School Settlement Association
New Community Center Facility
New Community Center
The School Settlement Association is a 109-year old organization in Williamsburg Greenpoint which proposes to build a new community center on the site of its 104-year old antiquated facility. The building will consist of 4 floors with 19,600 square feet. The total costs of the proposed project will be $6,234,000. The building will contain classrooms, a gym and multipurpose theater room. In addition the new facility will provide space for services to over 1000 elderly per year. Making the project even more compelling our local schools (PS 132, PS 34, PS 17, PS 18) were built during the same era and also lack gym and recreational space. This situation and the lack of nearby school gym and recreational space galvanized the organization to propose development of a new facility.
The School Settlement Association is a strategic partner of St. Nicks Alliance (SNA) which supports School Settlement with planning, development and construction expertise. The School Settlement Association will draw upon St. Nicks Alliance to leverage public funds with individual donors and foundation contributions.
